Fertility Center is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Michael
Slowey.
Dr. Slowey received all three of his degrees (BA, MS, MD) from
the University of Tennessee. After graduation, he moved to
San Diego, CA, where he completed
his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the US Naval Hospital.
Dr. Slowey's fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility was completed
at the Michael Reese Hospital/University of Illinois program in Chicago.
Dr. Slowey practiced as a member of the Reproductive Medicine
Associates of New Jersey (RMA), for the past eight years, as
well as serving as Clinical Assistant
Professor, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science, Robert
Wood Johnson Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
for the past 3 years. Prior to his position at RMA, he served as a physician
in the US Navy for 10 years, the last 4 of which as Director of the Division
of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for the Department of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA.
Dr. Slowey holds Board Certifications in General Obstetrics and Gynecology and
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility from the American Board of Obstetrics
and Gynecology. Dr. Slowey is also an active member of the American Society for
Reproductive Medicine, Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility,
Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies, American College of Obstetrics
and Gynecology, and American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. In 1995,
he was honored with the National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education
from the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Slowey’s clinical research
interests include mechanism of follicular selection, recurrent pregnancy loss,
thrombophilias, and the impact of GnRH
analogs on ovarian function and implantation. Dr. Slowey has lectured extensively
on these and other related topics, and has authored several original research
articles and abstracts that have appeared in major medical journals.
